Rental Rules

Welcome to Grand Isle!  We hope you enjoy your stay with us.

Our properties are privately owned and all items are the private property of owners.  We appreciate our owners making their homes available for rental and we ask that you respect their property.  All members of your group should be made aware of this information so that you can receive your full damage deposit back after departure.

We do not rent “party houses” to fraternities, sororities, high school, college, bachelor party or other such groups. Please respect this policy and do not cause a problem for yourself or us by renting and attempting to use one of our properties for this purpose, as it will not be allowed. Your group will be asked to vacate the premises and there will be no refund. You must be 25 years of age to rent and the person renting the house must be staying at the property. There must be a sufficient number of adults present at all times.

CHECK-IN time is 3 p.m.  Please do not arrive before 3 p.m., as housekeeping needs this time to clean from previous guests.

CHECK-OUT time is 11 a.m.  Please vacate property no later than 11 a.m. so that we can have it ready for the next guests.  If you stay past 11 a.m., you will be charged an additional night’s rental.

PETS:  No pets are allowed unless it is a pet friendly property and you have pre-arranged with reservations to bring your pet.  You are responsible for all damages caused by your pet.  If you bring a pet to a “no pet” property, your group will be asked to vacate the property immediately with no refund. Pets should not be left to roam unattended.

SMOKING:  No smoking is allowed inside any of our properties.  Outside porches and decks may be used for smoking.  Cigarette butts should be disposed of in an appropriate receptacle.  Do not throw them on the decks, porches, lawns or grounds.

TOWELS & LINENS:  Towels are provided for bathing and are not to be taken to the beach or used to wash boats, vehicles, etc.  Linens, blankets, pillows, mattresses and comforters are not to be taken to the beach or used outside.

FURNITURE:  Do not rearrange the furniture or move to other rooms.  Do not take deck furniture off of the property.

OUTDOOR AREAS:  Outdoor areas must be cleaned and returned to proper order prior to departure.  This is not included in your cleaning fee.

BBQ PITS:  If a barbecue is provided at your property, it should be used in an open area only so as not to cause a fire hazard.  Winds can be very strong on the island.  You should not barbecue on decks or under porches.  After charcoal has cooled, remove charcoal from pit, discard in garbage bag and clean grill after use.  If a propane grill is supplied, we provide the tank, however, we do not keep it filled.  There are several places on the island where you can get it filled.

BOILING SEAFOOD:  If boiling equipment is supplied at your property, it should be used in an open area only so as not to cause a fire hazard.  Winds can be very strong on the island.  Propane tanks are provided as a convenience.  However, we do not keep them filled.  There are several places on the island where you can get it filled.  You are responsible for cleaning boil pots after use.  Return pot, burner and propane to proper area.

FISH CLEANING:  If a fish cleaning area is provided at your property, you are responsible for cleaning it after use.  Remove all seafood and fish scales and rinse counter, sink, concrete and surrounding areas with fresh water.  Fish heads and guts must be disposed of in a proper manner.  They may be placed in heavy trash bags, tied and placed in the garbage bins.  Do not throw any type of raw or boiled seafood on the levee, streets, open areas or canals.  This is a violation of municipal law and could result in a fine.  It also causes a horrible smell for you, the next guests, and the neighbors.

SWIMMING POOLS:  No swimming pools or hot tubs are allowed on decks or porches.  The decks are not designed to support the weight of water in a pool or hot tub.  This can create an extremely dangerous situation resulting in damage to property and possible injury or death.  A very small wading pool for toddlers may be placed on the grassy area.  Nothing larger is allowed.

NEIGHBORING PROPERTIES: Please be considerate of neighbors and respect their property.  Do not park on their property or block their driveway.  Do not use the neighbor’s dock for your boat.  do not use items from outside their house (tables, chairs, crab traps, fishing gear).  Do not empty charcoal or dump grease or boil water on their property.  Use designated crossovers to get to the beach.

OCCUPANCY:  The person booking the rental must be staying at the camp for the duration of the rental.  A maximum occupancy is listed for each property.  This is the maximum number of people that may sleep in the house overnight.  Older children and teens are counted in this number.  Infants and toddlers do not have to be included in this number.  You are allowed to have a reasonable number of guests visiting the property during the day.  However, we do not allow large groups of extra guests and large “yard party” situations.  If the police are dispatched to the house due to large groups of people or because of loud or disruptive behavior, we reserve the right to deny occupancy to all member of your group with no refund.

CAMPERS:  Positively no mobile homes, campers, trailers, tents or any other type of additional sleeping units are allowed on any of our properties.  There are facilities for rent on the island for those types of units.

RESTROOMS:  Grand Isle houses have either septic tanks or waste treatment plants.  Do not dispose of feminine products, baby wipes, paper towels or any other items in the toilet.   Toilet tissue and human waste are the only things that should be flushed.  Other items create problems that may cause toilets to back up.  Please dispose of other items in trash cans.

MAINTENANCE:  We do our best to maintain properties and keep everything in proper working condition.  Please contact us if something is broken or needs attention.  If at all possible, it will be corrected during your stay.  If something gets broken, please let us know immediately so that we can get it repaired or replaced prior to the arrival of the next guest.

AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING:  Do not remove filters from units.  Do not set thermostat below 68 degrees on central air conditioning units.   Doing so may cause the unit to freeze and not cool at all.  If unit freezes due to thermostat being set too low, you will be charged for the repair.  Upon departure, during warm weather, central units should be set to 78 degrees and window units should be left on low.  In cold weather, please turn off all central heat and space heaters.  Please conserve energy by closing doors and windows when air conditioning is in use.
